The Kings County Chronicle was a staunchly unionist newspaper and in 1920 when the regional name of the King’s County changed to Offaly County the newspaper refused to change its name and held out until 1922 when the newspapers masthead was printed as the Offaly County Chronicle. The Offaly Chronicle was one of Ireland’s first newspapers to publish photographs.
